Exploring Hydra

The first island we visited in Greece was Hydra. Hydra is a very small island with no cars, but plenty of donkeys. The island is beautiful and serene, with some of the most beautiful views we saw in Greece. There is a main strip of restaurants and small boutiques that all had views of the boat docks. We got to cliff jump into the clear blue waters and lounge at some beach bars. This was my first time in the Aegean Sea, and it was so salty we could float on our backs without even trying! The water was also so incredibly clear you could see the sea floor.

I was also amazed at how nice everyone on the island was. There was a young local girl who joined me and a friend as we were walking on the boardwalk, she spoke no English but was so sweet and just liked walking with us. Every local would say hi to one another and smile at us students as well. This island, along with all others, had an abundance of stray cats lounging about. Shockingly, they all loved people and wanted to be pet. Hydra may be my favorite island we visited, I would've loved to just sit and watch the boats pass by all day.
